Hey here. My second attempt at blogging begins. The first one petered out because I got bored. Also, I though I'd have more of a chance to leave this utterly vapid town a year ago. But Portland isn't really much better for being the ugly redheaded stepchild of Seattle that utterly fails to..
.....fuck that shit! Got to get to my first topic, and Oregon sucking as a whole will have to wait for another time.
However, it does relate to my first topic which is, get ready for it....the emptiness of life in small rural towns.
Picture this: you're a guy with a large amount of interest in the music industry who would really like to become an audio engineer, but thanks to the fact that there isn't too much of a real scene in the decaying, ex-lumber town which you just happen to inhabit along with loads of other retarded idiots, your opportunities are....quite limited to say the least.
Especially assuming you don't want to take the risk to a completely unknown place like Tempe, Arizona where the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences is located. There are also the factors of finding people who want to go to the same place as you, besides that work is just so goddamn hard to find in this economy....you get the picture. If you make the wrong decision, you'll end up back at your parents' house or else living with your friends at their parents house and feeling like a totally doped-up loser.
Some people might want that of course, but those are the people feeling content by getting high and hanging out all day at the park during the summer. Nothing wrong with that, but there are some of us that really don't feel happy unless they can really experience the wider world.
But is there really much we can do when nobody but reject Californians attempt to breathe new life into this place? It really makes me wonder how I was cursed to grow up here....
More next time....
